Dr. Sandra O’Connell is Editor of house+design magazine. She also edits Architecture Ireland, the RIAI’s official journal. As RIAI Communications Manager, Sandra is responsible for communications with RIAI Members and the Public. Last year, Sandra co-wrote and co-presented with architect Angela Brady Designing Ireland- a four-part documentary for RTÉ TV.
Emma Gilleece is Products and Features Editor with house+design magazine and Deputy Editor for Architecture Ireland. She is an architectural historian with a love for mid-twentieth century architecture, which she inherited from her father Declan Gilleece MRIAI, a Conservation Architect Grade III. Emma has a BA in English & History, an MA in History of Art and Architecture (UL) and a MSc in Urban and Building Conservation (MUBC) from UCD.
Joanne Coughlan caught the gardening bug as a child from her mother, who roamed gardens on open days with a concealed secaturs. She graduated as an architect from UCD before undertaking a Masters in Landscape Architecture. She is a registered architect and member of the RIAI and ILI. She has worked as a landscape architect since graduating, on projects ranging from health-care, playscapes, parks and public realm, heritage, housing, urban planning, educational and institutional settings projects. Her special interest is in the benefit of well-designed landscapes on human, animal and wildlife’s health and well-being. She set up studioAULA in 2015, to focus on landscape architecture and garden design and teaches on the undergraduate landscape architecture course in UCD.
